Joan Elizabeth Fitzpatrick

Joan E. Fitzpatrick (nee Killoran), 89, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Born in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of James and Mary Killoran, Joan was a graduate of Henry Snyder High School. She met the love of her life, Ken, as a young child, and they were married in 1955 after Ken returned home from serving in Korea.  Joan spent a brief time in California with her young family before moving back to NJ, where she settled in Upper Saddle River for the rest of her life. Joan was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips with family and friends to ski in Canada, enjoy the beaches of St. Maarten and sightsee in countries all over Europe. Her greatest joy was her family and her spirit and strength were apparent to all. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth R. Fitzpatrick.  Proud mother of daughter Jacquelyn "Jackie" Lane (Mark) and son Kenneth (Elizabeth). Loving grandmother of Megan, Ryan and Mackenzie and beloved aunt. Predeceased by her brothers Robert Killoran and Donald Killoran and sister Irene Killoran. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (VPFH.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.  A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 11:15 a.m. at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458.
