John William Bolich, Sr., age 79, a 35 year resident of Wyckoff, NJ died June 13th, 2022. John was born October 11, 1942, in Wadsworth, Ohio. He graduated valedictorian of his high School Class in West Point, MS, and received his BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mississippi in 1965. He worked for Exxon Mobil Corporation for 35 years, retiring form Exxon Company International as an executive in 2000. During that time, he held numerous positions in research and engineering, supply & transportation, refining, ship chartering, crude oil trading, marketing, and planning. He spent his entire career in international activities, traveling extensively worldwide and living in London, Caracas, Aruba, and Miami as well as the New York Metropolitan area.
Following retirement, John was an active volunteer for charitable organizations including serving on the Board of Trustees of United Way of Northern New Jersey. He enjoyed international travel, photography, and bike riding, but his special love was spending time with his three grandsons.
He is survived by his ex-wife Emily Gay (nee Groves), her husband Adrian Dale. He was the loving father of his son John William Bolich, Jr. and his wife Tina (nee Iandoli) of Warwick, NY and his son Geoffrey Philip Bolich and his wife Debra (nee Guillen) of Franklin Lakes, NJ. He was a devoted grandfather to his three grandsons, John William Bolich, III, Theodore (Teddy) James Bolich and Kyle Michael Bolich. He is also survived by his two sisters: Rebecca (Becky) Sklenka and Lucinada (Cindi) Horn of Wadsworth, OH.
Visiting hours will be from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ., on Thursday, June 16th , 2022. Funeral service will be held at Grace Methodist Church,555 Russell Ave, Wyckoff, NJ on Friday, June 17th at 11:00 am in Wyckoff, NJ. Burial to follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the United Way in his memory.
