John Borino Obituary

John A Borino, 76, better known as “Pop-Pop” to his grandchildren passed away peacefully Thursday, August 11, 2022, surrounded by family.

John was born in Jersey City on April 26,1946, to John Borino and Beatrice DiDomenico.

John was a car aficionado, an avid refurbisher and collector of automobiles, especially Corvettes. He was the proud owner of a 1961 Red Corvette that he painstakingly built from the ground up and a 2019 Corvette ZR1 which was his pride and joy. He received many awards and “Best in Show” trophies for his vehicles.

John was always known for his ability “to do anything”- from building a car, designing his landscape architecture, roofing his home, putting in a new kitchen or bathroom or anything else that needed to be done. He was truly a master of all trades. He was a tireless worker from dawn to dusk-immediately changing into his “work clothes” when he arrived home from his job as Director of Supply Chain for Agfa Graphics where he had been employed for 29 years until his retirement in 2013. John was a graduate of Franklin Pierce University where he remained an active member of the Alumni association doing various fundraising and events.

John was a loving husband to his wife Sharon who predeceased him in 2014, an exemplary father to his daughters and a dutiful grandfather to his granddaughter Madison for whom he had unending energy and boundless love.

He is survived by his loving daughters Megan Borino, Kaitlin Zarco, and her husband Ivan Zarco, his Sister Paula Borino Erb and her husband George Erb, his son John Borino and stepson Sean Ryan and his wife Heather Ryan, grandchildren Anthony and Heather Anne Borino, Samantha and Jack Ryan, Madison Zarco and great grandchildren Addison and Sophie Borino.

The Borino family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 4 PM - 8 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ (vpfh.com). A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
