John R. Grill

John R. Grill passed away peacefully on September15, 2022 at the age of 94. Born in 1928 in Ridgewood, Queens, NY, he was a resident of Waldwick, NJ since 1959. John proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was active in the Knight of Columbus Council #5257 in St. Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, where he was an active parishioner, served as an usher for over 50 years and was their financial secretary for 34 years. John retired in 1992 after working for General Aniline and Film in various financial positions. He also worked at Lehn & Fink Products Company in Montvale, NJ, as a Division Controller and in their sales, service, manufacturing, and distributions areas. John enjoyed golf, snow skiing, woodworking, wood carving and gardening. He was a master gardener and volunteered at McFall Environmental Center in Wyckoff for 21 years, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma at Fordham University where he graduated from in 1956.

John is predeceased by his loving wife Barbara J. Grill. Married for 71 years.

Visitation will be held on September 26, 2022, from 9:00am – 11:30am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on September 26, 2022, at 12:00p, at St. Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. The interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Contributions in John’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
