John J. Lauria, 80, passed away on Wednesday October 23,2024.
John was born in West New York, NJ. He lived and raised his family in Fairview before moving to Manchester, NJ in 2009.
A proud veteran John served in the Army Reserve during the Vietnam War. John had a successful career as a merchandising manager for Sears in Secaucus, where he worked for 20 years. He was responsible for the distribution of children's clothing to the Northeast stores.
John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed crabbing, music, especially the sounds of Van Morrison, Frankie Valli, The Four Seasons, Elvis, and The Shirelles.
A true connoisseur of snacks, John had a fondness for sweets and could often be found sneaking donuts or cookies or eating peanut butter from the jar. He and his beloved wife Amelia enjoyed line dancing at their retirement community.
John was involved in the Italian American Club and the Veterans Organization at the Leisure Knolls community where he lived. Family was John’s greatest treasure. He cherished time spent with loved ones, and dedicated himself to creating lasting memories, finding true happiness in their presence.
Beloved husband of the late Amelia Lauria. Devoted father of Peter Lauria and John Lauria and his wife Rhonda. Cherished grandfather of Christopher, Emma, and Cassidy Lauria, Alexander Kurdyla and Nicholas Andreotta. Dear brother of Sal Lauria and the late Felicia Ravenna. All who knew John know he loved his extended family and friends, and he always brought a smile to their faces.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday Oct. 29, 2024, 3-7pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday Oct. 30, 2024 at 11am at the funeral home. There will be one hour of visiting prior to the start of the service from 10am - 11am.
