John David Livesey Sr., 84, of Waldwick, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late John F. and Isabel Livesey.
John was employed by the Department of Defense, retiring from the NJ National Guard as a CW3 with 40 years of service to his State and Country. He was an Army active-duty veteran serving in the Berlin Crisis, Newark riots, and the Gulf War. John was a consummate volunteer who was always at the ready to help friends, neighbors, family and his church with any mechanical need. John also volunteered within his community as a member of the Waldwick Planning Board of Adjustments, Waldwick’s Community Emergency Response team, Waldwick Ambulance Corp, as well as a Boy Scout Leader, Football Coach and President of the Golden Club. Being an avid outdoorsman, John was also a volunteer for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and New Jersey State Park Service.
John loved the outdoors. He loved fishing with family, camping, canoeing, skiing and snowmobiling.
John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Ruth and three sons, John Jr., his wife Cindy; Scott, his wife Laurie, and Brian and his wife Alexis. He is also survived by his pride and joy his 5 grandchildren: Amanda, Alexandra, Erik, Eleanor, and John. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
