John "Jack" Hoitsma

John “Jack” Hoitsma, 90, of Fair Lawn, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025.  Born in Paterson he was a lifelong resident of Fair Lawn.

Jack was a superintendent for Otis elevator in Pelham, NY for 40 years until he retired.

Jack was a 60 year member of Fair Lawn Fire Department Company 1, a member of NJ State Fire Chief’s Association, the Bergen County Fire Chief’s Association, member and past president of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association, Life member of the NJ State Fireman’s Relief Association, and Fair Lawn Fire Inspector for 10 years.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carol, his loving sons, John, Jr, Donald and his wife Donna and Chris and his wife Lori; his beloved grandchildren Scott and his wife Talyor, Danielle and her husband Ben, Tyler, and Madison and her husband Dillon and 6 great grandchildren.

All services for Jack are private.  Arrangements by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home,  www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
