Jonathan Scott Merritt, 62, left us far too soon.
What comforts us is that he lived life to the fullest in his 62 years, and never wasted one moment.
He passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, with his wife Cathy, son George, and daughter Julie at his side.
Jon was born in Milton, Massachusetts on March 26, 1960, to Stanley and Sylvia Merritt. In his early years, his father introduced him to the magic of Fenway Park. So many hours, so many memories, watching his beloved Red Sox from behind home plate. He was a lifelong member of the Red Sox Nation.
After graduating from Boston University, Jon launched New Concept Office Supply with a college friend, then expanded to New Concept Office Furniture. Over the last 16 years, Jon owned Prestige AutoWash, taking on a partner in recent years to expand the business. His customers adored him.
So, what constitutes a good life?
Jon leaves a legacy of love, respect and admiration.
Behind those words are years of devotion to his family, providing for a loving home, and raising two children who absolutely adore him.
Behind those words are years of birthday celebrations, soccer games, travel with the volleyball club, track meets, graduations and one very special wedding.
Behind those words, is a wife who always stood by him in joy and sorrow, who met Jon in college at 17, and celebrated thirty years of marriage.
Behind those words, is a lifetime of incredibly close and caring friends, who also adored him for his off off-colored humor and quick wit.
This is a legacy of having an acumen for business, a love of golf, Red Sox games, being a son, a father, a husband and a friend. It is a loving, admirable and eternal mark of a good life.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Jon’s name may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. (www.pancan.org)
