Joseph Pompeo (Joe) of Wyckoff (formerly of Franklin Lakes), New Jersey passed away on May 3, 2025 at the age of 86 due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Joe came from Pescara, Italy when he was 18 years old. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1962. After spending six months of active duty in the Air Force Reserve, Joe joined the accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. where he worked for 38 years, 26 years as a partner, and retiring in 2000. After his career with Arthur Andersen, Joe served on the Board of Directors of several publicly held and private companies for many years. Joe was predeceased by his father, Vincenzo, and his mother, Maria.
Joe is survived by his beautiful wife, Dolores, of 54 years; by his daughter, Christina, and his grandson, Clay, of Simsbury, CT; and by his son, Mark, and his wife, Nancy, of Wallkill, NY. He is also survived by his sisters, Silvia and Bianca, his brothers, Mario and Angelo, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe enjoyed spending time with his family at his second home at Bromley Village in Peru, VT - skiing with them and the many friends they made there. He also loved playing golf. He was a member of the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ and the Manchester Country Club in Manchester, VT for over 30 years.
