Josephine Treglia

Josephine (Jo) Treglia, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. The second daughter of Salvatore and Cristina (Salzano) Treglia, she was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on March 27, 1931. When Jo was in her mid-thirties, after having worked as a clerk in several small libraries, she decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Paterson State College (now William Paterson University). She then embarked on a 25-year career as a school librarian in the Wayne school system, working at every level, from elementary to high school. In her ‘spare’ time, she went on to attain Master’s degrees from William Paterson and St. John’s University.

Jo enjoyed traveling, both abroad with her good friend Rosemary and within the United States with her son, Gary. She also enjoyed reading, playing Bridge, and the opera. More than anything, Jo loved to spend time with her family, and she leaves a big void in their lives. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jennie Treglia Queisser, and her niece Lisa Marie Queisser Rogers. She is survived by her son Gary, of St. Paul, Minnesota; her daughter, Donna Roberto Martin and her husband Jim, of Warwick, New York; her cherished granddaughters, Cristina (Mike) and Yvonne (Andy); and a great granddaughter, Poppy.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who assisted all of them along the way, making Jo’s final years as happy, dignified and as comfortable as possible: especially, first and foremost, Irene, who helped Jo for years in her home, and, in the past year, the wonderful and compassionate staff at Sunrise.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 11,2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm. Entombment Calvary Mausoleum. Paterson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
