Josephine Wrocklage Obituary

Josephine A. Wrocklage, 96, of Waldwick, NJ passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2020. Born in the Bronx she grew up in Washington Heights and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941. She later lived with her grandparents in the Bronx after the untimely death of her parents and loved recalling fond memories of growing up in New York. She met her future husband, George H. Wrocklage, Jr. after his return from his service with the Army in Europe in 1946. After their marriage in 1950, they moved to New Jersey, settling in Waldwick in 1955 where they raised a family of nine children. While raising her family she was actively involved in her community with many years working at the Waldwick Public Library. Her love of history led her to become a founding member of the Waldwick Historical Society in 1977. She spent many years researching and working on preservation projects. Above all, she was devoted to her home, family and her community. She loved to sing and was a gifted seamstress and quilter.

She is pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years; her children George H. Wrocklage III (Geordie), James Wrocklage and Elizabeth Wrocklage; her sisters Dorothy and Virginia and brother Charles.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Cathy), Waldwick, NJ; Daniel (Kim), Kinnelon, NJ; Eileen Pillori (Claude), Parsippany, NJ; Michael (Tammie), Santa Barbara, Ca; Richard (Kay), Haskell, NJ; Donald (Mary Beth), Oakland, NJ; George, Upper Saddle River, NJ; her sister-in-law Mary Jones; her eleven grandchildren, Thomas Wrocklage, Emily Barry, Sarah South, Jennifer Pembleton, Samantha Pillori-Bosi, Michael Wrocklage, Paul Wrocklage, Julianne Pillori, Hannah Wrocklage, Brian Wrocklage and Kaitlyn Wrocklage; her great grandchildren Hannah, Georgia, Savannah, Julia, Jake, Brooklyn, James and Miles.

She was the center of her family and was a never-ending source of patience, generosity and love. Her wonderful smile brightened our days and will be missed but never forgotten.
