Our beloved mother and grandmother, Judi Segalas, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2024, at the age of 88. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Judi was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, whose love and care were the foundation of her family. Her greatest joy was being a mother, a role she cherished deeply. She took immense pride in creating magical moments for her children, and nothing brought her more happiness than the joy and excitement of Christmas mornings.
When she became a grandmother, Judi embraced this new role with the same boundless love and dedication. Whether it was taking her grandchildren to dance lessons, picking them up from school, cheering them on at sports events, helping with homework, teaching them to bake, or offering her thoughtful advice, she was fully involved in their lives, always giving 100%.
A woman of creativity, Judi had a true gift for crafting and sewing. She made beautiful clothing for her children and grandchildren, and her Halloween costumes were legendary. Her talents also extended to needlepoint, cross-stitch, and calligraphy. In addition, she was an avid reader and loved to discuss the books she was reading, always eager to share her insights and recommendations.
Known for her kindness, warmth, and generosity, Judi was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her loving spirit and selfless nature touched everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Joel M. Segalas, as well as her siblings, Gerard Cook, Dennis Cook, and Marcia Cook Weller; her sister-in-law Joyce Cook, and her nephew, Alan Cook. She is survived by her children: Suzanne Haaf, Patricia MacDonald, Donna Segalas, and Steven Segalas. She also leaves behind her sons-in-law, Michael Haaf and Thomas MacDonald, and her daughter-in-law, Daniela Segalas. Her memory will be deeply cherished by her devoted grandchildren: Alexandra MacDonald, Jillian MacDonald, Cole Haaf, Connor Haaf, Sebastiano Riverso, and Gabriela Segalas. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved cat, Scout, who brought her great comfort and joy. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
