Katharine Senn

Katharine Senn, 95, of Wyckoff NJ passed away early Thursday morning March 13, 2025 at Valley Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Katharine was born on March 9, 1930 in Ridgewood, NJ to Frederick R. Hoffman and Harriet Lawrence Hoffman.

She met John J. Senn while at Stephens College in Missouri. They married in 1952 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage, raising five children in Wyckoff, before John passed away in 2009.

Katharine lived an amazing life. She was an International Ballroom champion, often dancing along with her husband John.

She has literally rubbed shoulders with many celebrities. Her favorite stories include visiting Tom Selleck at his Hawaiian home, having drinks with Johnny Carson In New York City and playing baseball as a teenager with Ted Williams.

But Katharine especially loved to travel. She has covered almost the entire world, traveling with her best friend and business partner Margery Johnson. They were one of the first Americans to be granted a Visa to go to China.

Katharine is survived by her four children, Jay Senn, Raymond Senn, Fae Korteweg, and Elena Asencio. Her surviving grandchildren are Armand Asencio and Brandon Asencio. She was pre-deceased by her youngest son, Frederick Senn, who passed away in 2021

Viewing will be held on Monday, March 24,2025 at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff NJ from 10am to 11am followed by a 11:30am Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff NJ.
