It is with a very heavy heart that I share with you the news of the passing of KEITH ROBERT SHEDLOCK, born May 3, 1957 in Paterson NJ. Keith grew up in Clifton, NJ where he was actively involved in The Boy’s and Girl’s Club. Keith was diagnosed with a terminal brain disease in 2007. He remained in the care of his loving family until he required the full- time services of a nursing home in 2017. After being diagnosed, he valiantly fought to live life to the fullest in spite of the disease. An avid athlete, he maintained his regimen of going to the gym up until it was determined that he needed long term care. He also loved biking, water sports and snow skiing which he continued to do until long after doctors’ thought it would be possible. His attitude towards life and his family became stronger the more frail he became. In his fight against his disease, Keith became a hero to many. Never complaining. He had simple joys, he loved to be taken out for a beer. He enjoyed and even thrived on the quieter times spent with family. He loved to spend time with his son and daughter talking about their various adventures and dreams. His children were the shining lights of his life up until the moment of his death.
On Thursday, September 22, Keith passed away shortly after the arrival of Kristy and Keith to the nursing home. It was his one last gift to them, the gift of saying goodbye. He is now resting comfortably in God’s arms, finally at peace. A wake will be held for Keith at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff, NJ on October 1 from 12-4p.m; 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 078481. Keith was preceased by his mother Jean Shedlock and father Kenneth Shedlock
