Kimber Leigh Cilette Gibson, 69, of Franklin Lakes, NJ passed away on June 2, 2026. She was born September 30, 1956 in North Tarrytown, NY to Robert A. and Kim P. Cilette (née B. Kim Powers). She is predeceased by her parents and her stepfather, Joseph F Herbert. With her passing, she leaves her beloved husband of 46 years, Thomas A Gibson, their sons Thomas J Gibson of Hoboken NJ, Michael P Gibson of Rochelle Park, NJ and her sisters Wynne Smith of Greenville, SC and Robin Murdock of Portsmouth, RI. The grace she exhibited in her final days was magnificent.
Kimber and Tom met shortly before her family moved from NJ to Newport, RI where she and her mother opened The Chocolate Soldier chocolate and candy store. Kimber and Tom were married in Portsmouth, RI and eventually settled in Ridgewood, NJ to raise their family. Kimber had a gift for visual and graphic arts and earned an Associate degree in interior design from Berkeley College while also being a full-time mother.
Among her interests, Kimber was a passionate reader and movie enthusiast and enjoyed sharing those experiences with friends. She was fascinated with all animals, especially birds and relished in their songs, colors, and behaviors. She enjoyed gardening and took delight in surrounding her home with beautiful, colorful flowers and creating wildlife-friendly habitats. And she loved a beach where she could bask in the sun and enjoy the endless activity of the ocean.
Above all, Kimber enjoyed people. She was truly interested in others and so easily made each person an important part of her life. She valued every moment spent with each of them whether in person, by phone, or by messaging. Kimber’s passion for life, her sense of humor, and love for her family and friends will be remembered by all.
A celebration of Kimber's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to one of her special charities: Table To Table Food Rescue, The Tunnel To Towers Foundation, or the National Audubon Society
