Lauren Jessica Perwas

Lauren Jessica Perwas, 36, of Bloomington, IN and formerly of Mahwah, NJ, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 29, 2025. Lauren was born on September 5, 1989, in Pusan, South Korea, and at the age of 7 months arrived into the loving embrace of her adoring parents. She grew up surrounded by loving family and friends and thrived both as a student and even more so, as a kind and loving child.  As an adult, that kindness she had displayed as a child matured into compassionate, gentle, caring for the elderly loved ones in her life. The respect and love that she showed them will forever be a part of her legacy. While at Mahwah High School, some of her friends started a small group that they lovingly  called "WWLD" for "what would Lauren do," as she was admired for demonstrating good judgment and making good decisions. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in anthropology, biology, and neuroscience, Lauren decided to change direction, earning a master's degree in accounting. She was working for Cardinal Health as an accounting supervisor at the time of her passing. Lauren enjoyed hiking, wall climbing, and more recently climbing outdoors, but her real passion was in creating art. She loved painting botanicals; selling her artwork at various craft shows;  and doing the occasional commissioned painting.   Lauren was always excited to share her art with her friends and family.

Lauren is survived by her loving parents, Charles and Valerie Perwas of Mahwah; her cherished partner and soulmate, Jordan Bable of Bloomington, IN, who was the love of her life; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom are devastated by her loss.

Donations in Lauren's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Humane Animal Rescue, 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 , where she adopted her beloved dog Bear.

The Perwas family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 3:00 until 7:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ . Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn.
