Lizette Alma Hutchinson Tait

Lizette Elaine Tait, 92, of Manhattan, NY, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024. Born on January 29, 1932, in Black River, Jamaica, Elaine dedicated her life to serving others. She graduated from Shortwood College in Jamaica and then later NYU in New York. She spent most of her career as a social worker at Neighborhood Youth and Family Services in the Bronx, NY, where she touched the lives of many families and young individuals.

As the oldest of five siblings, Elaine exemplified strength and resilience throughout her life. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, cherished by her family, including her daughter Janice Lisa Tait, and her grandchildren: Jason Patrick Reaves, Matthew Sean Reaves, Lauren Anita Reaves, and Jalil Marcus Ojodu. She is also survived by her brothers, nieces, and nephews, who will remember her warmth and guidance.  Elaine was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Reaves.

Elaine was not only a devoted family member but also a respected executive director and community leader. Her legacy of compassion and commitment to social service will continue to inspire those who knew her.

The family will receive relative and friends on Thursday Sept. 26,2024 9am -10am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ 07481  A funeral service is planned for 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ
