Lorraine Josephine Sclafani (nee DeLise), passed away peacefully at Van Dyk Park Place Nursing Home in Hawthorne, NJ on Monday, May 24, 2021.
Lorraine was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 2, 1945 to John and Josephine DeLise. She lived in Brooklyn with her parents and sister, Marie and brother, Vincent until she met her beloved husband, Peter Sclafani. They were married and eventually moved with their three sons Peter, Stephen and John to Franklin Lakes, NJ. Lorraine was an active member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes. She dedicated many years of her life to helping people in need, volunteering at the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation. Here she provided comfort and support to New Jersey families dealing with pediatric cancer. Lorraine loved to spend her summers at the family home in Forked River, NJ with her husband, sons and friends. She also enjoyed playing tennis, which she did for many years.
Lorraine was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother in law and friend. She is survived by her son Peter and wife Lillyan of Wyckoff, son Stephen and wife Alexa and their children Julian and Scarlett of Burlington, VT, and son John and wife Diane and their children Joseph, Giulia and Marco of Franklin Lakes. She is predeceased by her husband, Peter. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that Lorraine and Peter are together again.
Viewing ceremony will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (257 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff) from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 1. A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, NJ. The burial will take place after mass at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
