Louis Auger, Jr. Obituary

Louis Francis Auger, Jr., passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was 99. Born in Paterson, NJ, he was a resident of Ridgewood, NJ for most of his life. Lou attended Ridgewood schools through 8th grade and graduated from New Hampton School in 1944. He attended Williams College and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  Lou served overseas in the American Field Service during WWII. He worked in the financial printing business for 40 years. After his retirement, he worked for Valley Hospital until age 90. Lou was known for his competitive spirit. For years, he could be found on Ridgewood area softball fields and squash/tennis/racquetball courts.

Lou was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Comstock Auger. He is survived by his son Jeffrey C. Auger, and daughters: Sherry A. Shepperd, her husband Tad; Kim A. Rodrigues, her husband Jim; and Patricia J. Auger; 7 grandchildren: Lindsay, Jimmy, Jennifer, Becky, Allyson, Jeffrey, and Michael; 11 great grandchildren: Mia, Michael, Lydia, Joseph, Logan, Olivia, Lucy, Augie, Nico, Kailas, and Charley. A private celebration of Lou’s life will be held at a future date.
