Luisa Herrera passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021. Luisa was born in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1960 settling in New York. She moved to Waldwick in 1974 with her husband Leandro where they raised their three children. Before retiring she worked at Hudson United Bank in Mahwah as a Loan Processor. Luisa was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She loved cooking, traveling, and animals, but nothing more than spending time with her family. Luisa is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Leandro; cherished mother of Leonor M. Hanlon, her husband Jon; Alex Herrera, his wife Karen; Natalie M. Dunst, her husband Bryan; ten grandchildren: Andrew, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Christopher, Emma, Shane, Maxwell, Samuel, Michael and Jason and her dog Lola. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4:00 until 5:30 with the funeral service commencing at 5:30 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Luisa’s memory may be made to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436 or to the Disabled American Veterans, 315 Hazel Street, Clifton, NJ 07011.
