Manuel Yglesias, 78, longtime resident of Franklin Lakes and oil industry executive, died unexpectedly at his home on November 20, 2025.
“Manny” was born on October 17, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Manuel Yglesias and Frances (nee Giasi), he is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judi, several cousins, and many friends.
Manny was an avid collector and enthusiast of Lionel trains and was a TCA member for many years. He was always looking forward to his annual visits to the TCA’s York Train Show in Pennsylvania. One of his favorite things to do was to repair and restore vintage Lionel engines at his workbench in his cellar. Manny also was a passionate wine connoisseur, often enjoying a fine bottle of vintage wine from his cellar with his wife and good friends. In more recent years, he took up a new passion in vintage Christmas lighting where he enjoyed his “Matchless Stars” and Bubble Lights.”
Spending most of his career in banking and the oil industry, Manny worked for the last 50 years for Transworld Oil, finally retiring as a Director this past October.
His family and friends will miss his warm, engaging personality, his kind heart, and his big smile.
Judi Yglesias will receive friends on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24th 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
