Marc Cleaver Obituary

Marc Edward Cleaver, age 72, of Wyckoff (formerly of Glen Rock and Hawthorne) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 with the comfort of his family by his side.

Marc was born to Edward and Margaret Cleaver and graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1971. He was a combat engineer in the New Jersey Army National Guard 1971-1977 prior to attending William Paterson University. Marc built his career as a distribution and transportation supervisor at Nabisco Brands in Fair Lawn for 40 years.

Marc was known for his sarcastic wit, great sense of humor and in-depth knowledge about his favorite topics (no one loved a round of trivia more!). He had a passion for history, voraciously reading (and later listening to audio books) focused on a variety of topics, particularly the American Revolution, Civil War and World War II. He loved music, especially 1960s-1970s classic rock, spending hours listening to his favorite bands and attending live concerts when he could. Throughout his life, Marc was also an avid fan of the New York Giants, the New Jersey Devils and the New York Mets.

He always said that 1986 was one of the best years of his life, as the Giants finished 14-2 and won Superbowl XXI, the Mets won the World Series and - most importantly - he married the great love of his life, Tina Marie. Marc and Tina were married on December 14, 1986 at St. Anthony’s RC Church in Hawthorne. They honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico and were later blessed with two daughters that Marc loved fiercely and unconditionally, Caroline and Meaghan. They have enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage of nearly 39 years.

Marc is survived by his wife Tina Marie Cleaver, his daughter Caroline Cleaver, his daughter Meaghan Bernice and her husband Thomas, his grandsons Thomas Jr and Vincent, his five younger siblings, and many nephews and nieces.
