Margaret "Peggy" Elwood Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Elwood, age 92 of Waldwick, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Monday, October 11, 2021.  Born and raised in Queens, NY, Peggy moved to Fair Lawn, NJ after the death of her mother and lived on a farm with her Aunt and Uncle Mae and John Bender.  Here is where she met the love of her life and married Jack in 1950.  They then moved to Waldwick where they lived for 70 years.  Peggy is predeceased by her parents Henry and Florence; her brother Harry; her loving husband Jack; beloved children Jack Jr and Kathleen Farago.  She is survived by 5 children; Patricia Elwood, Kevin Elwood (Renee), Timothy Elwood, Michael Elwood (Lourdes), and Meg Wanamaker (John); 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; sister-in-law Catherine Elwood; and many nieces and nephews.  Peggy enjoyed reading, painting and vacationing on the Jersey shore with family.  An avid reader, when not taking care of the children she would always relax with a good book and had established quite an extensive library over the years.  She also had a passion for painting and was a talented artist using oil, water color and pen & ink and her artwork was displayed and sold at local libraries and craft fairs.  Above all else, she cherished the love and company of her family and looked forward to family vacations on the Jersey shore.  She will be remembered always for her kindness, wonderful personality, wit and charm.  She gave generously to others and was always there to lend a helping hand.
