Margaret “Peggy” Francin, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved friend to many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was raised in North Bergen before settling in Prospect Park for over 50 years.
She was a stay-at-home mom for many years and then worked at United Jersey Bank in the data processing department in Hackensack for over ten years, before taking a break from employment to help raise her grandchildren. In her second act back in the workforce, she was a devoted daycare provider at the YMCA in Wyckoff, a job she absolutely loved because of her immense affection for children.
Margaret also had a special fondness for dogs and was an avid reader, always eager to lose herself in a good book. Her warmth, caring nature, and generous spirit touched many lives in her community and beyond. She had many friends throughout the years and spent countless hours over cups of tea and long phone calls with all of them.
She will be remembered for her gentle kindness, her devotion to the children in her care, her love of a good book, and the warmth she brought to every cup of tea shared with a friend.
Beloved mother of Robert Francin and his wife Francesca, and David Francin and his wife Darlene, and the late Michael Francin.
Cherished grandmother of Sofia, Ryan, and Sean Francin, and William Sullivan.
Dear sister of Donna McQuarrie, Rose Prendergast, Maureen Weigmann, Beth Fonti, Kathy May, and the late John and Dennis May.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
A funeral Mass is planned for Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth’s R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.
Cremation will be private.
