Maria T. Fiorinelli

Maria T. (Mambelli) Fiorinelli, age 93, of Wyckoff, formerly of Bergenfield, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Maria was born on April 25, 1933, and grew up in the Bronx, New York. She attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, where she graduated early and went on to further her education at Hunter College, earning her Master's Degree.

Maria was a beloved teacher with the New Milford Board of Education for 38 years, retiring in 1992. Teaching was more than a profession for Maria. She loved her students and remained a meaningful part of many of their lives long after they left her classroom, keeping in touch through social media and celebrating their achievements. 

Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always willing to help those in need. The title "Moma," given to her by her grandchildren, became one of her most meaningful and important roles. Nothing made her prouder than being their "Moma.” She enjoyed attending church, gardening, reading, cooking, playing cards, fishing, traveling, and dancing. Maria valued the friendships she made throughout the years and always looked forward to time spent with those she cared about. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Francesco "Frank" Fiorinelli; her parents, Libero and Rose Mambelli; and her brother and sister in law, Frank and Helen Mambelli.

Maria will be deeply missed by her daughter, Maria Hansen and her son in law, Bryan; her grandchildren, Anthony and Francesca Hansen; her sister, Jeanette Ilardi and her brother in law, Joseph; as well as her nieces and nephews, whom she adored as if they were her own. She will be remembered as a beloved Mother, Moma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to all. 

Honoring Maria's wishes, cremation was private. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held to honor her memory at a later date.
