Maria Cristina Gomes

Maria Cristina Gomes, age 95, of Midland Park, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Maria was born in Caldas Da Rainha, Portugal and emigrated to the United States, with her daughter on December 20, 1966.  Maria’s husband followed three years later. 

Maria’s greatest accomplishment in life was dedicating her time and talents to raising their daughter and spending time with her husband and extended family.  Maria was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity, Midland Park.

Maria Cristina now joins her loving husband, Adelino Gomes, in heaven, who predeceased her on June 16, 2012.  She is survived by her devoted daughter, Olga Maria Lousada and her supportive husband, Mario of Midland Park, a granddaughter Sarah Kline and her husband, Keith of Wayne, PA, a great granddaughter Paige Littlewood of Wayne, PA and a sister Rosalina Penas of Union, NJ.

Although Maria Cristina’s family is broken hearted that she is no longer with them on earth, they find peace in the countless lives she touched during her lifetime and know how blessed family and friends are to have been a part of her life.  If there is one lesson we can all learn from Maria, it is to live life to the fullest.  

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home,  www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ

A private cremation will be held at the convenience of the family.
