Martha Best Volckhausen

Martha Best Volckhausen 83, passed away peacefully at Oakland Healthcare Center on October 15, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Kane, PA she was a resident of Wyckoff for 25 years.

Martha grew up in Larchmont, NY and attended Mamaroneck High School and both Boston and Columbia Universities. Martha is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Senior, of Ramsey and her son, Jeffrey, of Savannah, GA, her siblings, Graham Best of Cary, NC and David Best of White Plains, NY and her grandchildren Tyler and Samantha Senior. She was predeceased by her husband John W. Volckhausen.

Martha loved her summer vacations spent at China Lake, Maine with her family. She loved playing and watching tennis and rooting for the Boston Red Sox. She was a member of West Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. Her strength, optimism and perseverance while battling MS for 30 years was an inspiration to everyone she knew.

Cremation will be private and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Arrangements by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff, www.vpfh.com.
