Mary Adele Kochan

Mrs. Mary Adele Pierson Kochan, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Harbor Chase at River Walk in Rock Hill, South Carolina, surrounded by the love and presence of those closest to her.

Born on October 30, 1937, in Paterson, New Jersey, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Catherine Blunt Pierson. She lived a life rooted in love, devotion, and quiet grace. A loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother and greatgrandmother, Mary found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love will be remembered always by those blessed to have known her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, John Kochan; her second husband of five years, Albert Vadon; her sister, Nancy Pierson; and her brother, Robert Pierson.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Laurie Edson, and her husband, Michael Edson; her devoted son, Glenn Kochan, and his wife, Regina Kochan; her beloved grandchildren, Courtney Myers and her husband, Brandon Myers; Meghan Edson; Erin Vita-Finzi and her husband, Dillon Vita-Finzi; and Sydney Kochan. She also leaves behind her treasured greatgrandchildren, Graysen Myers, Woodrow Myers, Reece Vita-Finzi, and Avery Vita-Finzi.

Mary’s legacy lives on through the family she lovingly nurtured and the countless memories she created with grace, warmth, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.

A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at a later date in Wyckoff, New Jersey.
