MaryAnne Buonadies Obituary

Mary Anne Buonadies, age 72, of Wyckoff, NJ passed away on November 18, 2021. Mary Anne died surrounded by her family in her home following a brief battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Mary Anne was born in Jersey City on November 5th, 1949 and grew up in West New York, New Jersey with her parents and siblings.  Mary Anne married Joseph Buonadies in 1973, they resided in Wyckoff, NJ.

Mary Anne graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in nursing and started her career working as an RN for maternal/child health.  Later she was certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. In her vocation as a Lactation Consultant she assisted thousands of new mothers and infants.  After a 40+ year career at Valley Hospital Mary Anne retired in 2015.

Mary Anne enjoyed many hobbies including making hooked rugs, playing the harp, and gardening.  She enjoyed her weekly games of mahjong and bridge with her friends.  She was an active member in the St. Elizabeth’s Church community of Wyckoff.  She also dedicated her time to community outreach activities including working with the local Meals on Wheels.  After retiring from nursing, Mary Anne volunteered her time at Hackensack Hospital rocking babies in the Neonatal ICU.

Mary Anne enjoyed an active lifestyle and especially enjoyed walking at the Wyckoff Wildlife Center nearly every day.  She looked forward to summer vacations in Maine with her family. She had a passion for photography, her family being her favorite subject.  Later in life Mary Anne’s truest joy was being a “Mimi” to grandchildren to Landon and Alberta.  She deeply loved her family and friends and cherished her two grandchildren.

Mary Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph and her parents Florence and Francis Maloney.  She is survived by her two beloved children, Rebecca and Matthew and his wife Kaylin Milazzo, and her two grandchildren, Landon and Alberta.  She is also survived by her sister Kathleen and husband Dan, brother Francis and wife Elaine, brother-in-law Ray and wife Linda Buonadies, sister in law Roseann Buonadies, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff.  A  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Saint Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mary Anne to the Creutzfeld-Jakob Foundation or La Leche League International.
