Matthew Robert Bogan passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the age of 51. Born in Glen Ridge, he was the son of Robert J. Bogan and Diane L. Haderly. Matt was raised in Cedar Grove, West Caldwell and Sunderland Maryland, but has been a long time resident in Franklin Lakes. Matt was a man of many talents and hobbies who could literally teach himself to be an expert in pretty much any skill, from making award-winning wines to bowling several perfect games. Professionally, Matt achieved his lifetime dream to work in the field of computer science, earning the position of Senior Solutions Architect at Microsoft. His greatest achievement in life, however, is his family. Thirty years ago, Matt met his soulmate while bowling in Oakland. They quickly became best friends and ultimately partners in love and life. Matt and Lori raised two beautiful, talented and independent daughters in a home filled with love, respect and laughter. An animal-lover since he was young, Matt “Big-Dog” Bogan welcomed several puppies into the family including Hershey, Brady and Levi. Matt was a kind and generous soul. Although generally quiet and reserved, he would open up his heart and goofy sense of humor to those closest to him.
Matt was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer almost two years ago. From the beginning, he refused to accept the odds stacked against him. He never complained. He was always gracious and grateful to his care-takers and focused on being there for his wife and daughters. Through it all, Lori was his rock, protecting and moving mountains for her husband.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Grosso Bogan; his daughters, Brianna and Krista; his brothers, James and Thomas Bogan; his Father-in-law and Mother-in-Law, Fulvio and Margaret Grosso; his brother-in-law, Adam Grosso; his step-father, John Haderly; his step-mother Rebecca Bogan; his step-sisters, Erin Singleton, Kathryn Gurbuz, Julia Savoca, and Kim Gallagher; his step-brother, Michael Gallagher; and many more family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 a.m.
