Matthew S. Kitz

After a valiant nine-year battle with cancer, Matthew Stephen Kitz (Matt), 53, of Glen Rock, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Matt was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Matt touched the lives of many during his 53 years of life. Matt had a strong work ethic and a successful career in the finance industry. He was devoted to his work and took a genuine interest in his clients’ well-being. Matt had an outgoing personality and is known for his humorous (and often sarcastic) zingers. Matt had a knack for making his friends and family smile (actually, laugh out loud) in any scenario. Matthew taught his children by example to never give up, to keep fighting, and to live their lives with grace and integrity. There will not be a day that goes by that he will not be missed.

Matt was a parishioner of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church in Glen Rock. Matt is predeceased by his father Thomas A. Kitz. Matt is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Linda; daughters, Alyssa, Sophia, and Gianna; mother, Marguerite; brother Thomas, his wife Catherine; sister Jennifer, her husband Christopher; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Maria & Ronald; brother-in-law Thomas, his wife Frances; sister-in-law Rosemarie, her husband Joseph; nieces and nephews, Anne, Andrew, Ryan, Jessica, Michael, Madison, Christopher, and Abigail; and his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 275 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Church, 905 Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ.
