Nancy Faro

Nancy Faro, 97, of Allendale, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 18th, 2024.

Born on March 21st, 1927, in North Bergen, NJ, to Louis Picolla and Angelina Rando, Nancy was a resident of Guttenberg, NJ for 67 years. She attended Anna L. Klein Elementary School and Memorial High School. She went on to work for 19 years as a seamstress at Evan-Picone in North Bergen. In addition to her work, Nancy proudly served as a union chairperson for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, advocating for her fellow workers.

Nancy moved to Allendale in 1999. At the age of 71, Nancy found a new purpose when she returned to work at Northern Highlands Regional High School. She dedicated 15 more years there, supporting the school community and making lasting friendships.

Nancy enjoyed a variety of activities, including watching sports, playing cards, and trips to the casino. Above all, she cherished her family, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Ida Faro-Tetro and husband Patrick Tetro of Allendale; her son, George Faro and wife Maria Faro of Clark; and son Robert Faro and wife Elizabeth Faro of Manchester. She was the loving grandmother of Jessica Tetro, Cristina Mulligan and husband Bryan Mulligan, Alexandra Faro, and great-grandmother to Mac Mulligan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Faro, her parents Louis Picolla and Angelina Rando, and her sisters Philomena Picolla and Josephine Coppo.

Visitation will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff, NJ, on Friday, December 20th, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at The Madonna Church on the Hill, 2070 Hoefleys Lane, Fort Lee, NJ, on Saturday, December 21st, at 10:30 am.
