Nancy E. Groo

Nancy Evelyn Groo (Dickinson), age 83, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023.  Nancy is survived by her three children, David Groo and wife Vicki, Matthew Groo and wife Liz, Rebecca Brenkert and husband Craig, and her 4 grandchildren, Patrick & Megan Groo, and Christopher & Nicole Brenkert.  She was predeceased by her parents Orlando and Evelyn Dickinson, sister Patricia Wagoner, and husband Bennett Groo.

Nancy was born in Ridgewood NJ on January 21, 1940.  She grew up in Glen Rock and attended Ridgewood High School.  Nancy received her bachelor’s in social work at Boston University and later was a homemaker enjoying raising her three children and then caring for her grandchildren.  Nancy resided in Waldwick until November 2022, she then lived in Hawthorne for the past year.

Nancy (GiGi) was a devoted mother,,grandmother and friend to many.  She was beloved by her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them all. She loved hearing about their adventures and attending their activities.  She had a passion for genealogy and loved her time spent at the Ridgewood library as both an employee and a volunteer.  Nancy had a love for baking and cooking holiday meals.

Friends and family may visit the family on Saturday November 18th from 1:00-2:30 PM, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff NJ.  A Funeral  Service will be held at 2:30 PM.
