Patricia King Kamp neé Greer (November 3, 1935 - August 3, 2025) died peacefully on Sunday in the care of Christian Health Care Center. She is survived by her children Russell (Laurie), Laurie Krum (William), and Glenn (Kelly), her 11 grandchildren Ryan (Kelly), Kristen Pahlow (Pierce), Connor (Leeann), Kelsey Palatiello (Brett), Mackenzie, Brianne Banales (Freddy), Alyssa Bock (William), Matthew Krum (Victoria), Rylee, Kacey, and Ella, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Kelly, her brothers Jim and Neil, and her husband Russell Norman.
The middle child of Gerald and Margaret Greer, Pat was born in Teaneck, NJ at Holy Name Hospital, which would prove to be a seminal location in a life dedicated to caring for others. Inspired in part by her close relationship with her Aunt Fran, Pat entered Holy Name School of Nursing in her early 40s while raising four children and caring for her elderly father and father-in-law. After graduation, she continued her relationship with Holy Name as an RN for the better part of two decades and would later serve on the board of their alumni association. Patricia had enormous pride in her nursing career and in her friends and family who also answered the call, notably her daughter Laurie, her honorary daughter-in-law Katie Balsamo, and her granddaughter Kelsey.
An avid lover of sports from a young age, Pat could be counted on to fan her competitive flame yelling at the Mets or taking part in a ruthless game of cards. We can only wonder what her record was against Russ after 66 years of nightly cribbage matches, but Pat probably had a pretty good count of her wins. Patricia was the font of Irish pride in the family; generations will toast her memory on St. Paddy’s Day for years to come. When she wasn’t reminding her grandchildren to wear slippers to avoid getting a cold, she could be found with her nose in a pulpy detective novel or perched in front of a British crime series. And whatever she was doing, she was always smiling.
A visitation will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff, NJ on August 7 from 3 - 7 P.M.
