Philip P Traverso

Philip Traverso, 100, of Waldwick, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Born in Fort Lee, NJ, Phil met his beloved wife of 73 years, Shirley, and proudly served in the US Army during WWII. 

Phil is predeceased by his wife Shirley, daughter Lori, brother Victor Traverso and sisters Maria Ferrando and Francis Knotts, brothers-in-law Johnny Ferrando and Thomas Conway, and sister-in-law Dorothy Conway.

Philip will be missed by his children Philip Traverso and Terry Huber,  daughter-in-law Ellen, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren David, Matthew, Robert and James, daughter-in-laws Christa, Jamie and Nadine as well has his great grandchildren Finn and Penny.

Philip was a salesperson for over 30 years before retiring to Boca Raton, Florida and Manchester, NJ.  He was also a devoted NY Yankees fan and avid letter writer.

A wake will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff, 257 Godwin Avenue on Tuesday, September 3rd, from 4 to 7 pm.  A funeral mass will take place 10:00 am Wednesday, September 4th at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park. Entombment will be held at Garden of Memories in Washington Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
