Ralph Orlandi Jr., age 92, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 22, 2025.
Ralph was born in Washington Heights, New York City. In his late twenties he married, moved to New Jersey, and raised two children. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
A hairdresser by trade, Ralph later transitioned to barbering, continuing to work until his retirement at the age of 69, following a stroke. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built through the years.
A lifelong sports fan, Ralph was a devoted supporter of both the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He loved attending games— from the days when suits, ties, and hats were customary, to later years, donning shorts, and t-shirts. He was also an avid tennis player and followed every aspect of the sport with great passion.
Ralph is survived by his beloved son and daughter, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was known for his sharp wit, his love of the beach, and his uncanny knack for running into someone he knew—whether at Broadway plays, island beaches, in the middle of nowhere, or anywhere in between.
He found joy in the simple things: time spent with family and friends, watching classic films and westerns—John Wayne being a particular favorite—and listening to the rain.
Ralph was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
