Richard Brady, Sr Obituary

Richard (Dick) W. Brady, Sr. of Mahwah, NJ passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023. Patriarch of the Brady clan of Wyckoff NJ, he was deeply loved by his family who will miss him dearly.

Born in Englewood NJ in 1929, Dick was the youngest child of Bernard and Gladys Brady.  He and sister Barbara were raised in Fort Lee, NJ where he was an accomplished (state champ) high school basketball player, and a lifeguard at the Palisades Amusement Park pool.

A true member of the Greatest Generation, Dick went to Fordham University on the GI bill, enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the Korean war.  Upon his honorable discharge as a Captain, he married the woman of his dreams, Alice Brady (nee Langan) thus beginning their 67 years together on this earth.  He went to Fordham Law and progressed his legal career as a partner at two law firms on Park Avenue in New York City, finishing his distinguished legal career as a Partner at Kelley, Drye and Warren of New York City specializing in corporate law.  Dick and Alice started their family in Rockville Center, NY, and moved to Wyckoff NJ in 1961 where they lived for almost fifty years.  Proud parents of six children, fourteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  The Brady household in Wyckoff is forever remembered for its love, laughter, and many celebrations.  He was an avid paddle tennis player and golfer, and long time member at Arcola Country Club where he served as the President.  He also served as an active board member of the Valley Hospital.

Dick is survived by his beautiful wife Alice, as well as sons Michael and Scott, and daughter Chris (Brady) Zaremba, daughter in law Donna (Battaglia) Brady and Katie (Day) Brady, son in law Stan Zaremba, his grandchildren Mia and husband Luke Menken, Ian Brady, John Brady, Connor Brady, Jack Brady and wife Elise (Zinssmeister), Owen Brady, Chloe and Rick Skalski, Alycia Zaremba, Matthew Brady and wife Jenna (Slaughter), Erin Brady, Mark Brady, Grace Brady, Jessica and husband Evan Sopenoff, and Tatum and Michael Vitale. Dick’s legacy continues with great grandchildren, Mac and Miles Vitale, Gavin and Cole Sopenoff, Camdyn and Evan Skalski. Dick was predeceased by his sons Richard Jr., David, and Danny Brady.
