Rita Hetzel

Rita Hetzel, 102, of Wanaque, NJ, and formerly of Mahwah and Midland Park, passed away on Thursday June 11, 2026.  Born in Suffern, NY, she lived in Mahwah before marrying her first husband John Kuczynski and moving to Midland Park.  Unfortunately, John passed soon after their marriage.  Years later she married Norman Hetzel and moved to Mahwah where she continued to live after he passed. 

Rita worked cleaning homes and caring for children. 

She is survived by her brother, Paul, along with several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents, five brothers and a sister. 

A Funeral Service will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:30 am at the Vander Platt Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07482, www.vpfh.com 

Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
