Robert B. Polak

Robert B. Polak, age 94, formerly of Piscataway NJ and Easton PA, passed away peacefully on
July 30th, 2026. Bob was born May 26, 1932 to Harriet and Max Polak, of Westbury Court in
Brooklyn NY. Bob served in the Marines after high school, then went on to graduate from New
York University with a degree in Industrial Engineering.

Bob had a passion for data and computer programming, he spent his early career in the 1970’s
at Datatab Inc in New York, where he was Vice President for data processing services. He then
spent a decade at LaSalle Computer Marketing in New York and the Bronx, as VP of
Information Services. Following that role he was a partner in a small IT company until retiring in
2006.

Bob was extremely proud of serving in the Marines at rank of Lance Corporal E-3, and was
stationed abroad during the Korean War, where he enjoyed being a cook for the troops.
Throughout his life would continue to refer to cafeterias and kitchens as the “mess hall”.
Bob always loved sports. He grew up playing stickball in Brooklyn, and after moving to
Piscataway, was catcher for the “Riverside Rats” softball team. He also enjoyed tennis,
racquetball, and skiing with family and friends. Bob was an original Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and
then later a die hard fan of the NY Giants and NY Rangers, he also loved the Knicks and Mets
(although never as much as the Dodger’s). Sunday football was a mix of cheering, screaming
at the TV, turning the TV volume off and only listening to the radio, and superstitions (if the
Giants scored when his family walked in the room, they had to stay for the rest of the game).
Bob’s other hobbies included sailing on his Sunfish at Greenwood Lake in the 1970’s, and being
an amateur photographer in the 80’s and 90’s. Bob loved barbecues, summer weekends at
Rivercrest Swim Club, teaching his daughter to play softball and cheering her on at games,
gardening and yard work (with frequent trips to the town dump), and getting a new car every few
years.

Bob met his first wife, June, on a blind date. They married on May 25, 1958 at the Russian
Orthodox Church, with a reception at the Hotel Grananda in Brooklyn, followed by a honeymoon
in Niagara Falls, NY. Shortly after marrying they moved to Mitchell Ave in Piscataway NJ with
their German Shepherd, Sandy. There they made many forever friends and welcomed their
daughter Margo in 1966. After June passed, Bob was fortunate to fall in love again and married
Rosemary Buckley, also from Piscataway, in 1994. Bob and Rosemary lived in Piscataway for
several years before moving to Easton, PA, where they were active in the church, met new
friends and traveled to Europe and South America with old friends.

Bob is survived by his daughter Margo Carp, and her husband Rick, wife Rosemary, stepchildren Paula Rokosny,
David Buckley and Ryan Buckley; grandchildren Maya, Zoe, Jessica (Jesse) and Brandon Carp;
Paul, Ben and Meredith Buckley; Kyle and Tanner Rokosny, Jake Buckley, brother William Polak, nephew
Kristopher Polak (MG), niece Chelsea Bassman (Damien), and great grandson Jude Carp-
Hernandez.

Funeral service will be Monday August 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Church in
Piscataway, NJ, followed by graveside ceremony at Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Marine Corps
