Our family is deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden and tragic death of Robert (Rib) Regna, 78, of Hillsdale, NJ, who died on August 3, 2025.
Robert was born in New York, New York to Emily Barbara, a fashion model and homemaker, and Pasquale (Peter), a successful medical research scientist. Robert's formative years were spent in North Bergen and Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey with his older brother Peter, before moving to Hillsdale, New Jersey.
Robert studied at The Dwight Englewood School in New Jersey before graduating from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. While raising and supporting his growing family, Robert acquired a Masters Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey and worked for Curtiss-Wright. Robert used his degree in electrical engineering to pursue his passions and start several businesses, including U.S. Laser Corporation, a business that manufactured electrical equipment and machinery for corporations and government entities.
Robert was an active member of many social clubs where he enjoyed duplicate bridge, playing tennis, and competing in motorsports. He particularly loved restoring vintage cars, racing sports cars, and following Formula One. Robert deeply enjoyed spending time with his family, dear friends, and his many cats throughout the years, especially his Maine Coon, Coco.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carol, and his children: Tracey, Randy, Rob, Colby, and Tiana. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Oliver, Abby, Maxwell, Finley, Robby, and Franklin. Robert's first wife of many years, Beverly, predeceased him in 2018.
Visiting hours for his wake are 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm, followed by a funeral service at 3:30 pm, this Friday, August 8th, at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Robert's final resting place will be the Garden of Memories in the Township of Washington, NJ.
