Ronald Grant Obituary

Ronald “Ron” Peter Grant (80) of Mawhah, NJ, formerly of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023 after a 20 year battle with cancer.

Ron was born on January 10, 1943 in Hackensack, NJ. He grew up an avid swimmer and lifeguard in Lake Rogerine, NJ. After graduating from Roxbury High School in 1961, he joined the US Navy and served on the USS John W. Thomason out of San Diego, CA and was deployed in the Far East (Japan and China).

In 1971, Ron earned a BA in accounting from Pace University and went on to become a distinguished Federal Agent with the United States Treasury. He served in this role until his retirement in 2000.

In May 1964 Ron married his beautiful partner, Christine (“Teena”) Grant. They raised their two children, Ronald E. Grant and Diana Ruso, in Pomona, NY and Stony Point, NY. He was active in the Parish Council and the local AHEPA chapter of Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in West Nyack, NY. He was also an accomplished handyman who used his talents to support local theatrical productions, which Teena performed in, at the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY. In addition to his love for his friends and family, Ron was an avid fisherman and car aficionado.

Ron and Teena relocated to Mahwah, NJ in the early 2000s, and both became members of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wykoff, NJ.  Ron joined the local AHEPA chapter and also took loving care of his mother, Theresa Grant. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments.

Ron will be remembered as a steadfast, devoted, and dependable presence for his family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, often before being asked. He will be greatly missed.

Ron is survived by his wife Christine (Teena) Grant, his brother Bill (and his wife Jan) Grant, his son Ron (and wife Ashley) Grant, his daughter Diana (and her husband Brian) Ruso and loving cousins Peggy and Dieter Knecht. He leaves six grandchildren: Nicholas, Katherine, and Jack Ruso; and Thomas, James, and Emily Grant.
