Russell Onody passed away on Wednesday November 15th. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Stephen. He is survived by his two sisters, Carol and Laura, his nieces Samantha and Sophie, his nephews Jack, Eddie, and James, Great Nephews Cole and Nathan and his beloved dog Duke.
Russell was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America; Russell went on to be a successful chef in many culinary fields. A lifelong Jets and Yankees fan, you could always catch him spending time with his family at different sporting events. Russ was also a long-time member and President of the Ho-Ho-Kus Men’s Bowling League. Ever the “Dead Head,” Russell could also be seen wearing his Grateful Dead shirts and playing “Touch of Grey” into the late hours of the night. He loved and cared for so many, and his love knew no bounds. He truly was one to give you the tie-dyed shirt off his back, or a hug, or even a quick joke to make you smile.
The memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 96 E Allendale Rd, Saddle River, NJ 07458, Monday November 27,2023, at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 IL 60601 or Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge Inc., Rbari.org, 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland NJ 07436
