Ruth was born in Brooklyn, NY and at a young age moved to North Arlington, NJ. While in high school she met the love of her life Ron. They married in 1962. She graduated from Claremont Secretarial School, New York and landed a job in New York City soon after. She often told stories about traveling by bus to the city while wearing high heels and fancy dresses. Once Ruth became a mother, she was a stay-at-home mom and made taking care of her children a priority although it was said she wrote a few of Ron’s graduate school papers so he could pass some of his classes. After her children were old enough to take care of themselves, Ruth went back to school to earn a certification in AV technology. She began working at Ridgewood High School in the AV department located in the library of the school. Besides the duties of AV coordinator, she often helped students with homework or ate lunch with them in the library.

Ruth was an active member of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park as a Eucharist minister, and other ministries. She also frequently attended Midland Park Knights of Columbus events in Midland Park being at her husband’s side. Ruth also enjoyed attending her grandson’s soccer games and rarely missed a game.

After Ruth retired from Ridgewood High school, she and her husband, Ron traveled often. They enjoyed Cruises with friends, frequently visiting Key West hoping to spot Jimmy Buffet. Retreating to their Cape Cod home for the summer making sure to be at their favorite restaurant, Land Ho, every Sunday before the menu special board was hung.

Ruth was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Andrew and John Paul, “Jack”. She always referred to them as her precious boys and made sure everyone she met knew of them with one always bringing her bagels and the other always bringing his girlfriend, Kelly, to visit her.

Ruth is survived by her 2 sons Kenneth and his wife Colleen, and Matthew and his wife Mona; her cherished grandchildren Andrew and John Paul. Ruth is predeceased by her husband Ron of 62 years and her sister Barbara Christ. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends whom she held so dear.
