Scott Lewis, August 25, 1963 to May 23, 2026. An exceptionally courageous, kind and generous person with an engaging smile and a contageous laugh, Scott never let his 8 year battle with Multiple Myeloma change his demeanor or positive outlook on life. Loved and admired by all who knew him, he enjoyed outdoor activities, especially gardening, surf casting, bicycling, hiking and travelling with his wife Laura and beloved sons, Taylor and Ryan.
He was particularly proud of his recent attainment of 40 years of service to his employer, Sandvik Coromant. As one of the "O.G's," he was the GO-TO guy, especially for difficult questions or issues. His travels took him to many interesting places: Sweden, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, and various locations in the US and Canada where his expertise, both as a problem-solver and as a teacher/presenter were universally respected.
Scott was pre-deceased by his mother Ginette. He is survived by his father, David Lewis, his brother Jon (Debra), Sisters Lynn Durow (Bill) and Dawn Beaudoin (Michael). His brothers in Law, Bill Corbett and Jon Corbett (Jennifer) of Waynesburg PA. He was the much-loved "fun uncle" to many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his Aunt and cousins and many great life-long friends.
His disease made it necessary to receive many blood and platelet transfusions. Our special thanks go out to his "blood brothers and sisters" brother Jon Lewis, Sister Lynn Durow, son Taylor Lewis, friends Tony Gasparovich, Joe Wensell, Alex Cascardo, Emma Frew Johnson and many others who made the trip to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center for directed donations. There was never a time we did not recognize and apprciate your sacrifice.
The nurses and staff at MSK, always generous with kindness and professionalism were a blessing to us through all these many years and many, many treatments including a rare and dangerous allogenic stem cell transplant using stem cells donated by his equally brave and generous son, Ryan. Special heartfelt thanks to his primary oncologist, Neha Korde of MSK. We fully comprehend that the reason we had him as long as we did was her great knowledge of this disease and her understanding of the nature of his particularly difficult case. She will always hold a sacred place in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all people who are eligible to donate blood and/or platelets, do so as often as possible, either directly at MSK (call 212-639-7648 for the blood donation room - free parking!) or at a hospital or blood bank near you. There are thousands of deeply loved people who need blood as badly as Scott did.
Monitary donations in Scott's name may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Donations@theMMRF.org 203-229-0464. During his treatments, Scott participated in several clinical trials, sometimes at considerable physical cost to help not only himself, but others as well.
We carry his kindness and strength forward because he showed us how. Forever cherished, forever remembered, forever missed.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday July 11,2026 from 2pm-4pm at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, NJ 07450
