Shirley M Traverso

Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley Traverso, 95, of Wyckoff, NJ, passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 26th, 2023.

She was born to John and Grace Ferrando on February 6th, 1928. After graduating from Fort Lee High School, she married Philip Traverso and enjoyed a joyful 71 years together. They had three children, Philip, Lori, and Terry; daughter-in-law Ellen and son-in-law Michael; four grandsons, David, Matthew, Robert, and James; granddaughter-in-laws Krista and Jamie; and two great-grandchildren, Finn and Penny.

Shirley and Philip spent most of their life together living in Bergenfield, retiring to Boca Raton, FL, and Manchester, NJ, before settling back at Wyckoff, NJ.

Shirley loved to read, enjoyed music, and playing cards and games with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, homemaker and worked outside the home as a salesperson at Bloomingdale’s for over 20 years. Shirley was a kind and loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She remained active with her posse of golden gal friends, staying true to her infectious personality through the end of her life.

Shirley was predeceased by her daughter, Lori, and is survived by her husband, two children, four grandsons, two granddaughters-in-law, and two great-grandchildren. She joins her parents, brother John, sister Dotty, daughter Lori, loving relatives Victor and Fran, and special friends Lorraine, Charles, Bill, Joan, Norma, and Anthony on her next journey.

The Traverso family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, May 31st, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. 07481. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1st, at The Church of Nativity at 10:00 am, 315 Prospect St, Midland Park, NJ.
