Stephen E. Donnelly, 70, formerly of Ramsey, NJ passed away on July 6, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Stephen was born on November 3, 1950 to Mary and Edward in New York, NY. After graduating from Mount St. Mary’s in 1972, Stephen went on to work at Dun & Bradstreet where he met the love of his life and best friend Marybeth, who wed in October, 1976. They went on to have three children, Kelly, Christopher and Carolyn. Stephen was a devoted, loving father and grandfather to his granddaughter, Samantha.
After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s eight years ago, Stephen quickly became a champion for Alzheimer’s research by participating in medical studies, being interviewed by the Star Ledger, by radio host Shelli Sonstein and fighting for those who no longer could. Stephen was a goofy, fun loving and creative man who enjoyed a variety of hobbies including music, fishing, woodworking, collecting stamps, walking his dog Lulu and spending time with his wife, children and granddaughter.
Stephen was predeceased by his mother, Mary and father, Edward. He is survived by his loving wife Marybeth, his three children, daughter Kelly and granddaughter Samantha, son Christopher and his husband Jerry, daughter Carolyn, his brother Brian and wife Joan and sister, Joanne and husband Lee. A loving uncle too many and friend to all.
Visiting hours will be held for Stephen on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ from 11AM - 1PM.
