Steven Odierno

It is with the deepest sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Steven Odierno.  He parted with us on April 21, 2025 at the age of fifty.

Steve was born to Donald and Barbara Odierno and was raised in Rockland County, New York with his sisters Janine and Lisa.  He graduated from St. Joseph’s Regional High School in 1993 winning the General Excellence medal and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree with Summa Cum Laude honors from Boston College and a Master’s Degree from Fordham University.

Steve was admired by everyone he knew for his remarkable combination of kindness, intelligence, wit, humor and good looks. 

He was the Director of Marketing at St. Joseph’s Regional High School, where he also served as a beloved coach and teacher.

Steve married the love of his life, Mariann (Smith) Odierno, in 2001 and became the proud father of Steven and Katherine, who he loved with all his heart.  Mariann and his two children were the center of Steve’s life and his love for them touched everything he did. 

He was a loving son to Donald and Barbara, brother to Janine and Lisa, nephew to Deborah as well as a devoted brother-in-law, uncle to twenty nieces and nephews, great-uncle to three nieces and a dear friend to so many.  These family members and friends surrounded Steve during holidays, vacations and simple weekends in his backyard.  Nothing made him happier than those moments.

Recently, Steve had the honor of officiating the wedding of his sister, Lisa, to her husband Peter.  Steve did a characteristically brilliant job of mixing humor with sincerity and love into the ceremony, reminding everyone present, for one last time, what made our beloved Steve one of a kind.

His loss will leave a void in our lives that can never be filled.

Visitation services will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff, New Jersey. 

The sudden loss of Steve Odierno has left his family in a challenging situation. His wife Mariann, along with their children Steven and Katherine, are facing both emotional and financial hardships during this difficult time. Steve was always there for those in need, offering his support and love without hesitation.

Now, it’s our turn to step up and show that same kindness to his family. A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover the various expenses that will arise as they navigate this unexpected journey.
