Susan Anteau entered eternal peace into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 15, 2026. She was born on May 26, 1943, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Gerald and Elizabeth Ferry. Sue was a lifelong resident of Wyckoff, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and community.
Sue began her dream of becoming a nurse as a licensed practical nurse. She then continued her studies at Bergen Community College to become a registered nurse and eventually received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Sue dedicated 35 years of her life as a registered nurse at Bergen Regional Medical Center. Her favorite part of nursing was bedside care, where she could spend time talking with and caring for her patients. It wasn’t just her job; it was part of who she was. She was also a devoted member of the Wyckoff Ambulance Corps, always looking to serve the people in her community that she loved.
As a member of the Wyckoff Garden Club for many years, Sue’s passion for creating flower arrangements and gardens was evident throughout her life. She was also a member of Partners in Pride, volunteering to water plants throughout Wyckoff, and helped create floral arrangements for the altar at Cornerstone Church. Sue also enjoyed creating various arts and crafts projects and would host craft workshops with her sister and friends. She was also an avid bowler and participated in various bowling leagues throughout the years.
Sue found joy in the simple moments with her family and friends, whom she adored. She loved to travel and visited many countries, including England, France, China, Jamaica, Norway, Morocco, and Mexico. She especially enjoyed trips to New York City to see Broadway shows with her family and friends and to visit the Botanical Gardens.
Family traditions were at the heart of Sue’s life. Christmas Eve was a special time, filled with visits from Santa Claus, platters of homemade cookies from cherished family recipes, and the joy of being together. She also hosted a cookie and coffee gathering for her girlfriends and co-workers each Christmas season. Easter brought backyard egg hunts for her grandchildren, complete with Sacagawea gold coins. She was an incredible baker, known for her chocolate chip cookies, and lovingly delivered birthday cakes to her family, a tradition that will always be remembered.
Being a Nana was one of the most important parts of Sue’s life. She was thoughtful and intentional with her grandchildren, always finding something just right for each of them. From gifting teddy bears at their birth to playing basketball or cards, or organizing crafts for them to do, she took the time to be with them. She also enjoyed train rides and trips to Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant.
Sue was a devoted mother, sister, and a proud Nana and great-Nana. She is survived by her children: Kathleen Csipkay (Eugene), Samuel Braen III (Maureen), and Scott Braen (Cielo). She was a beloved grandmother to Zack, Elias, Ashley (John), Sam, Trent, Brooke, Scott, and Ellie, and a proud great-Nana to Quentin and Vera.
She is also survived by her siblings, Katherine Daley (Tom), and D. Gerald Ferry (Dena), along with her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Ferry and Thomas Ferry.
Sue was also supported by her companion and friend, Narda, whose presence and care meant a great deal to her.
Sue valued family and faith. She will be remembered in the traditions she created and the time she spent with the people she loved.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 10am to 12pm, with a funeral service taking place during this time. Burial will be private.
