Teresa Politis, 92, fell asleep in the Lord on May 29, 2025. She is survived by her son Vasilios (Billy), her daughters and their spouses, Nancy (and Evan Foulke) and Yvette (and Daniel Cromack) and her nine grandchildren – Alexandra, Connor, Ethan, Dylan, Olivia, Ava, Bobby, Matthew, and Ashleigh. Her life was defined by sacrifice, strength, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
One of eight daughters born to Nicolas and Margarita, at age 16 she adventurously moved from Puerto Rico, and joined several of her sisters in New York in search of better opportunities. Though she spoke little English, she built her future as a young woman by working in the garment industry and living in a community of family and friends.
At age 28, she met Charalambos (“Bobby”) in New York, they married in 1960 and quietly built a home together in Staten Island until Bobby’s passing in 2003. Together they worked tirelessly to give their children all of the opportunities they never had. With quiet resilience, Teresa balanced multiple jobs, navigated unfamiliar systems, and overcame any obstacle with grace. She eventually became a home attendant, lovingly caring for the elderly in their homes until her retirement at age 70. She was funny with her inner circle and a force of nature. Her love was not loud, but it was constant and fierce. She valued education and instilled in her children at an early age that they should do well in school and that they would attend college. She taught her children the benefits of hard work, the meaning of perseverance, and the depth of unconditional love. She will be greatly missed.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 16 at the Church of St. Elizabeth, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, NJ at 11 a.m. followed by Repass luncheon.
