Theresa Coyle Obituary

Theresa A. “Terri” Coyle, 88, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Terri shared 66 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph E. Coyle. They
were true lovebirds and despite her own medical issues, Terri tenderly cared for Joe until his
recent death on March 7, 2026.

Born on May 19, 1938 in Bayonne, New Jersey, Terri was the daughter of Demie (Donata
Americo) Luongo and Michael Luongo. She grew up in Mount Vernon, New York, where she
was the cherished youngest sibling of Joseph and Leonard Luongo. After the loss of her father
when she was just five years old, her brothers became her devoted protectors. Inspired by the
resilience and strength of her remarkable mother, Demie, Terri embraced life with determination
and gratitude, surrounded by the love of her extended family and caring neighbors.

On June 6, 1959, Terri married her sweetheart, Joe, at Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in
Mount Vernon. Together they built a loving family, welcoming their two children, Donna and
Joseph Jr., and made their home in Crestwood, New York. There they formed lasting friendships
and found spiritual support through their parish family at Annunciation Church.

Terri worked for Verizon, where she played a role in establishing Westchester County's first
Reverse 911 emergency notification system by calling residents to verify their telephone
numbers and addresses. Exceptionally organized, she was the perfect navigator for Joe's
adventurous spirit. While Joe confidently took the wheel, Terri charted the course using paper
maps, guiding off-the-beaten-path explorations throughout the United States and abroad. Terri
and Joe also treasured time with family at their vacation home on Sleepy Hollow Lake in Athens,
New York, which they built together with their children. They loved to socialize and dance!

Following retirement, Terri and Joe moved to the Spring Meadow community in Wyckoff, New
Jersey, to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. They quickly became active
members of their new community, enjoying friendships through the Wyckoff Seniors Club, the
Wyckoff Family YMCA, Activities Unlimited, and St. Elizabeth's Church.

Their later years were enriched by the kindness and support of so many. Terri was deeply grateful
for her caring Spring Meadow neighbors, the compassionate Wyckoff police officers who were
always ready to help, the transportation services provided through the Township of Wyckoff and
Christian Health, and her devoted caregiver and dear friend, Laura. She also appreciated the
many healthcare professionals who cared for her with compassion, as well as her kind friends at
her hair and nail salons who always helped her look her best for the next social gathering.

Terri is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Gormley; her son,
Joseph Coyle Jr.; and her beloved grandchildren: Thomas and Lindsay Gormley; Ryan and
Nicole Gormley; Shelby and Juliana Tesoriero-Capone; Kristin and Jules Mujuru; Peter and
Juliana Gormley; and Joseph Coyle III and his fiancée, Erin Mostoller. She was blessed with six
great-grandchildren: Violet, Miles, and Gabriella Gormley, and Arlo, Otto, and Luciano Tesoriero-Capone

She is also survived by a loving community of cherished family members and
friends.
Terri’s Christian faith was an important source of strength. Prayer, her treasured rosary, and the
loving guidance of devoted parish priests brought her comfort, peace, and hope throughout her
life. We trust that she was joyfully welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by her dear husband
Joe and many other beloved family members and friends. As she often said, “We did everything
together.” Now they are together once again.
May they rest together in eternal love and peace.
